This strong Scottish style beer features complex malt character balanced with a little bit of hops. Kettle caramelization is common in the style and will present caramel/toffee notes in addition to that provided by some of the malts. There will also be some dark stone fruits, like raisin, prune or fig that can come through from the darker crystal malts. Roast and toast flavours may be present but will be somewhat subdued. Some examples of the style may exhibit a smoky flavour, however this one does not.
